What's a Bible Reader?

Throughout the Middle East and North Africa, the International Bible Society works through ministry partners to distribute issues of My Monthly Bible Reader to thousands of children. The books are illustrated--much like comic books.

But unlike comics, the contents are life-changing. The Bible Readers share the Gospel and help children grow in their Christian faith. In some areas, Bible Readers are distributed each month without any interference. Children line up to receive the Bible Readers and race home to read them.

But in areas like where Ehab lives--the rural, impoverished villages so heavily recruited by al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups--books are passed out quietly. To be caught distributing them would prompt powerful persecution.

Can I see a My Monthly Bible Reader?

Yes! Visit www.MyMonthlyBibleReader.com to download a sample in Arabic and in English. Show your children what their support will provide for children in a part of the world where it's dangerous to be a Christian today--just as it was in first-century Rome.

How will my kids get Bible Readers to children in the Middle East?

You can't--at least, not through the mail. The only way is to work through the International Bible Society's network of ministries and churches.
So we're asking you to provide money to make Bible Readers available. The IBS will print, ship, and distribute the books--and it takes only pennies to make a book available!

Why is this such an urgent need?

In the Middle East and North Africa, half of the population is under the age of 15. With most doors to sharing about Jesus firmly slammed shut, it comes down to this: children must tell their friends about Jesus. These monthly Bible Reader magazines are the perfect tool to help that happen.

Visit the IBS website to download an Impact Report that contains stories and information to share with your children. Help your kids make the connection between the coins they bring to VBS and the power of God's Word reaching real people in the underground church.

What does it cost to participate?

To give Ehab, or a child like him, a full year (12 issues) of My Monthly Bible Reader costs just $4.00. Your Rome VBS can give as much or as little as you wish, but we're hoping that each child who attends your VBS will supply a year of issues to a child in the Middle East.

One easy way for that to happen: Ask parents at registration if they're willing to cover the cost. Print out a copy of the Bible Reader sample from IBS's website and share the story; parents will be happy to help!

What do we do with the money?

At the end of your Holy Land VBS, make out a check to the International Bible Society, and send it to:

International Bible Society
c/o Operation Kid-to-Kid
1820 Jet Stream Drive
Colorado Springs, CO 80921

It's that easy--and IBS will immediately plan how to turn those nickels, dimes, and quarters into life-changing monthly Bible Readers for children who need to hear the Gospel and grow in their faith!
